PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE WRITE-UP BEFORE RSVPing. DIFFERENT EVENTS WILL INCLUDE DIFFERENT WORK.

Today we will be helping in the outdoor garden, which grows fruits and veggies to be used in the community kitchen and child care center. By this time of year most seedlings will have already been planted, but there's plenty of work to do such as:
- raking
- weeding
- watering
- maybe more planting

All tools and gloves will be provided, be sure to wear comfy gardening clothes (you will get dirty!). Closed-toe shoes are a must.

If you don't want to garden or there isn't enough for all, there are always odd projects to help with (cleaning, painting, light repairs).

ARRIVAL/LUNCH BREAK
Please arrive a few minutes early, we'll get started at 10am. We will end at 2pm. All volunteers are invited to eat lunch at 12pm in the community kitchen, along with other community members. NOTE: this is not a "soup kitchen" ... it is a community kitchen, open to all.

PARKING/PUBLIC TRANSPORT
The Center has a gated parking lot. It is also accessible by public transportation ... from PATCO, get off at the Broadway stop. Then take a bus to Broadway and Kaighn. From there, it is a 4 block walk (on Kaighn) to the Center. OK to walk during the day, but not at night.

It was not what we thought but it was nice to meet everyone, the conversations were good and next time we know what to expect. Hope to see everyone again soon!

The "gardening" was definitely not what was expected ... much more physically challenging than planting. Thanks to all for making the best of the situation.

Would there be anyone coming from the suburbs and who would be passing through the Main Line to get to Camden? Let me know--I greatly appreciate it.

This is a rain or shine event. In the event of really bad weather, there are always indoor projects to be done.

I will be there to get everyone started, but probably won't be staying.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
