Bellahouston Track Night

A summer night out at the cycle track at Bellahouston for those interested. Will be working on some interval training and some climbs in the park. Or you can come and just cycle round the track its up to you.

This is going to be a regular event through the summer. All welcome.

I am going to hijack this thread to ask if anyone intends going out on Saturday as there is nothing posted for this weekend other than the organised third party rides. I am not able to post a proposed ride in the meetup section. I think it's because I am not a responsible adult. So is anyone wanting to come out and play on their bike on Saturday?

    Hi guys,

I apologise for gatecrashing your meetup this evening - I occasionally head round to Bellahouston after work and I wasn't expecting to see so many people - I certainly didn't envisage that I would be involved in a paceline when I left the flat this evening!

I was the chunky guy in the dark blue t-shirt, riding the Focus road bike.

    Thanks (and sorry again!)
    Ed

Hi in new to cycling and would really like to get out with a group. Can anyone advise what type of bike would suit best for attending events? Road, hybrid or mountain? Any any advice on any reasonably priced bikes for a beginner? Sorry if this isn't the right forum just realise there will be quite a lot of knowledgeable people out there! Thanks all

Road would be best, worthwhile check out Decathlon (they have a store at Glasgow Fort) their Triban 3 model is probably the best value for money on the market at the moment

Agree with Iggy on the Triban. Several of the guys in the group ride them. Most of our rides are probably best suited to road bikes but some people do attend on hybrids. On longer rides I would not like to be on a hybrid and particularly hilly routes could be really hard work. You could also consider a Cross which is a drop handlebar bike suitable for use on road or off road. There are a large number of good second hand road bikes out there from Trek, Specialized, Giant and many others. Look on Gumtree and Preloved and e bay.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
