36 Mile Ride - Gilbert Shop Ride!

Moderate ride through Gilbert and Mesa

  • Help newer road riders learn road riding etiquette and safety tips.
  • Help folks who want to get stronger and prepare for a little longer distance.
  • Lessen intimidation and help newer riders learn where they are with stamina/endurance.
  • Improve confidence with clipless pedals, learning to drink while riding and steadiness.
  • ALL without the worry of being dropped or unable to manage a flat.

This ride will be at an easy pace of 15 mph and a distance of 36 miles from Global Bikes in Gilbert and back depending on the group.

Riders should:

  • Be sure to eat a light breakfast of toast/peanut butter or oatmeal
  • Wear a helmet and bring a road bike
  • Bring plenty of water and a spare tube
  • Wear comfortable clothing
  • Be prepared for two-three hours of riding
  • Arrive 15 minutes early and be sure to pump up tires

Ride host for the beginner ride is Global Bike's very own David Sanders w/Will Foster riding sweep.

Here's the route that we did last time....  http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/94768163/?open_ive_done=1&new_route=1

It's been a couple months since I've ridden this far but I am up for the challenge. I live near Guad and Recker. What time will you pass that area? I could meet there.

Route for Sunday May 26th - 44 Miles
Wheels down at 6:00 AM - Arrive 15 minutes early

Very flat - good route to get in some miles without stop lights.
This route has a lot of open road, we should be able to get some good speed.

Not real sure yet, I have to get my butt out of bed on time. If I do I'll pass Guadalupe and Alma School about 5:30. See you Sunday.

What is the pace of this ride. I am between 15-16mph

We start at about a 15-17 mph pace and typically after the first stop we split in to A and B groups. The A group around 19-23 mph and the B group 16-19 mph. This is typical but does not always happen. On 40+ mile routes we want to have all riders back in just over 3 hours, including stops, to avoid the heat and traffic. This is a no drop ride you will not be left behind. I have been told the Ahwatukee store is a somewhat slower pace.
