Pedaling Right (and Left)

According to Joe Friel in The Cyclist’s Training Bible, Commandment #7 states “Improve Weaknesses.” As is the entire objective of this text, becoming more capable in as many details as possible—particularly those that may hold us back the most—creates an overall fitter, leaner, healthier and better performing individual or athlete. Some common weaknesses within the cycling arena are balance, cornering, pedaling technique and general safe bike handling.

Pedaling technique is very often overlooked as one of the most important links in the proverbial “chain” that could be the difference between loving and hating to ride a bicycle!

Ø Do you struggle more than others on some hills?

Ø Do your legs get tired before the end of your ride?

Ø Do you experience foot, knee or hip pain while you ride or after or both?

The answer may surprise you to learn that HOW you pedal might be influencing why you ride or why you may not ride or why you don’t enjoy riding more than you do.

Join us for an opportunity to explore the very specific concept of pedaling technique:

v Cadence

v Alignment

v Smoothness

v Gear size

v Shoes

v Pedal systems

v Pre-existing conditions & compensation tendencies

Bring your bicycle because after we have a “classroom” experience you will be setting up on a stationary trainer and working with a partner who will help you troubleshoot your technique. Bring your stationary trainer-there will not be any available to demo.

Please remove my name from the RSVP. I don't have a trainer and don't feel I need one for my mountain bike.

Juan, Thanks for your input! Yeah-mountain bikes don't work real well on a trainer. Many of our customers will mount up a slick from time to time in their off season to spin on their trainers. Please join us next time around for our non hands on clinic!
