Charlayne is a masters’ level applied exercise physiologist with 20+ years in the fitness and wellness field as a metabolic specialist, certified strength and conditioning specialist, cycling coach and and has traveled nation-wide as an educator in these disciplines. She is a USAC Category 2 Road, Track and Mountain competitive cyclist and has two boys, ages 4 and 5 who are aspiring BMX racers!

Pedaling Right (and Left)
According to Joe Friel in The Cyclist’s Training Bible, Commandment #7 states “Improve Weaknesses.” As is the entire objective of this text, becoming more capable in as many details as possible—particularly those that may hold us back the most—creates an overall fitter, leaner, healthier and better performing individual or athlete. Some common weaknesses within the cycling arena are balance, cornering, pedaling technique and general safe bike handling.
Pedaling technique is very often overlooked as one of the most important links in the proverbial “chain” that could be the difference between loving and hating to ride a bicycle!
