So let's get the new year off to a GREAT start!!
FOOD - Chef Laurent Brazier, behind the Laguna Culinary Arts, where quite a few of us have studied and taken classes over the years, will DEMO a meal preparation for us. That means we watch and he does his Graham Kerr thing in the kitchen. I'll have the dining room set up so that many people can see what he is doing and he will explain carefully as he goes along too. He'll slice and dice and mix and sautee and do all those other cook things - and come up with something special for us to all enjoy as our evening meal!
Laguna Culinary Arts is a SPONSOR of our group - and this is how they show their appreciation for any business we send their way! A win-win for sure ...
We will have appetizers and other incidentals, and the fee for the evening will be for these and for the LIVE MUSIC! I want to always have live music for our general membership events - makes they especially special.
The people that have joined this group and have been active so far this year are really great people and I think we can celebrate a good start to our mutual passion for all things culinary! Many new and great friendships have formed as we go along, and this is what life is all about ...
Check out Cory Case on google and you'll find some Youtube things too. Really talented - as I've indicated before - and I would encourage you to drop in at the Port Restaurant in Corona del Mar any Saturday evening to hear him. The restaurant is right behind the Port Theater.
We'll probably start the music around 8:00 and it will go until 11:00, so alert the baby sitter - those with small ones at home. The cooking demo will start around 6:00 and I think we'll eat close to 8. My guess is that we'll be having something on the seafood or poultry side, more details to come later - so probably something in a white or pinot. I will be looking tomorrow for some Pinot Blanc from Alsace, which I heard from Laurent is a wonderful varietal that I've never had - Wines and More? White bordeaux? Something special to wow everyone!
Those who feel like coming early - as usual - the door is always open. Five or so is always great, even earlier if you come prepared to help a bit and open your wine to get us started!
The days will have been getting longer and we will look forward to a 2014 that is royally kicked into gear from this night! It's a Friday, since Chef Laurent and Cory can't come on Saturday - the next days are free - it's a weekend. Bring a tent and camp in the backyard and I'll make the best omelettes you've ever had the next morning!
RSVP today and we'll all know who to look forward to seeing again in the new year!
