GNPN Kurakani Series- "Dropping Cardiac Residency For Social Entrepreneurship?"

Dropping Cardiac Residency For Social Entrepreneurship?

A Young Doctor’s Dream of Healthcare Services Delivery at Your Doorsteps!

Many of us can relate to the anxiety surrounding taking care of our loved ones’ health – perhaps you need personalized healthcare for your aging parents, or would love a single medical resource to manage your loved ones’ healthcare needs in Nepal. Or maybe you just need to talk to someone confidentially and reliably who can provide detailed medical guidance with personal touch and care. You are certainly not alone.

Health At Home ( addresses all of these issues and more. I started Health at Home 4 years back in 2009, under the premise that medical care should be a solutions service, not just a business. This idea, which quickly turned into an entrepreneurship, has now turned into inspiring service delivery model in a very short period of time. In this session, I will share with you my journey to start this business against numerous odds (not to mention skeptical family members who frowned with the idea that I will no longer be a cardiac surgeon)!

Speaker: Dr Bishal Dhakal

Dr. Bishal is the founder of Health at Home, Pvt. Ltd. His keen interests revolve around new age healthcare solutions design, development, and delivery process. Prior to starting Health at Home, he was known as the ‘Online Doctor’ where he answered health questions for those who wanted to stay anonymous. Dr. Bishal earned an MBBS from the Saint Petersburg Medical Academy in Russia.

He was awarded Surya Nepal Social Entrepreneurship award in 2012 for his contributions through Health at Home. Please click here to watch a short video on this and click here for more media coverage about him.
