High Park Sakura Hanami (Cherry Blossom) Walk--miss it & wait a year! (FREE)

** BRING a UMBRELLA (or something) the weather forecast is changing back and forth, could be isolated rain/shower **

** Smaller chance of rain in the morning and you may go by yourself--we cannot change the time as a group when the event time is so close **

*** This long weekend is the last chance to see the blossoms ***

** Due to cold weather and heavy rains on Thursday, the number and volume of blooms are considerably less than previous years **

1. Weather forecast today (Sat.):

3 pm: "Cloudy" Precipitation: 10%.

7 pm: "Chance of Rain" Precipitation: 30%.

2. Updates

This Friday (May 16): A member went and told me that more blossoms fell due to rains.

This Wednesday (May 14): I went to the High Park in person. 30% blossoms or so and blossoms were falling while raining. Hope that more blossoms would open in the next two days.

This Monday (May 12) from a cherry blossom web:

Many of the trees are blooming today. It's a great time to visit any day now. Full bloom is not for another few days but due to lots of rain in the forecast it's best to visit the park any time this week whenever it's not raining. Will the trees still be blooming for the long weekend? Yes -barring any major storm during the week.

------------------------------------------------------------

(May 11 is the earliest possible weekend with some bloom, judging from the current buds. Just so you have a brief idea.)

----------------------------------------------------

This has been a popular event for the forth year of my groups--250+ RSVPs last year!

We typically has only one weekend for cherry trees to be in full blossom--DON'T MISS OUT or wait for next year!!

I'll be watching out for the best timing to go for our group members^^

------------------------------------------------

Agenda:

1:30 pm: Meet and Greet

1:45 pm: The walk #1 + photo taking begin, for a couple of hours

3:00 pm: Gather under a cherry tree or at the restaurant again.

To find us, Volunteers and I will be at the benches outside the Grenadier Restaurant at 1:30 pm and under s cherry tree or in the same restaurant again around 3 pm (Center of High Park). If you face the restaurant, the benches are on the left hand side across from the restaurant.

Note 1: It may be very hard to park inside the park (near the restaurant). Please be prepared to park outside and walk for 15 minutes to the restaurant.

Note 2: The restaurant will have very long lines that day (even for the lady's room). You may bring something for yourself (if its not too heavy for you) and sit under a cherry tree for picnic.

Sorry to say but I will not be attending. I have taken ill with a migraine headache today.
I wish I could be there to enjoy the day with you all. Have a good time everyone.
