TRAINING WEBINAR - Developing A Community Through Wordpress

  • April 9, 2013 · 2:30 PM
  • Online Meeting

Blogging can be an effective way to create community especially if that blogging is linked to a system where people can be added, groups created and discussion forums set up. When this happens people can not only tell their stories through blogs, then can also connect and collaborate.

For communities this can be very empowering and for those working with communities like local authorities and non government organisations then it offers a powerful way to connect.

In this webinar we are going to look at one blogging tool Wordpress to see how it has been used to connect people in this way.

This webinar will be presented by Andy Powell and facilitated by Francis Sealey. Andy has been a fan of technology since early childhood, laboriously typing out games from Page 6 magazine for the Atari 400, introduced him to programming and by his teens was releasing application into the growing public domain scene on a wide variety of bulletin boards.

Andy’s consultancy business Caffeinated Projects limited works with organisations to provide technical solutions with an internet connected slant. He is developing the Wordpress platform for community groups as well as training them its use and helping them add content.

This is a training webinar and is only available to fully paid up members of GlobalNet21.

This coming year we plan to keep the £10 figure for all those who will commit to a recurrent payment of £10 per year for the next three years. For those doing this then this fee of £10 will not go up at all for the next three years.

If you want to take advantage of the £10 recurrent subscription - then you can pay here..

For those who want to join for one year only or one year at a time then the annual subscription this year will be £12. You can pay for the one year subscription through our paypal here

Or you can pay through our Eventbrite site here ...

If you are unable to pay online this way can you please let us know and we will make other arrangements. Also we never refuse membership to anyone who is unable to pay so please let us know if there are difficulties this way and you will still be able to join in.

Well hello everyone. I am sorry I couldn't make it to this. I only just checked my email. Coincidentally I have just dusted off my wordpress account about an hour ago. I was interested in trying out the built in wordpress functionality on MS Word 2010. I hope to see some stuff posted up to let us see how it all went today. Maybe you could all practise your new found blogging skills. If you don't use it you lose it I believe they say.

Ah, I have discovered that a bit too late anyway. I was on a train at that time anyway. I think that Virgin would have been quite happy to take my money but I doubt he would have been able to provide the necessary bandwidth.

I'm not toally sure what Wordpress is, I take it that it's a social networking avenue, and any way of building a community is of interest to me, as I believe that communities are lost on the whole, and would like to explore ways of rediscovering them

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
