WEBINAR - What is the Public Service Launchpad Accelerator?

  • November 28, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • Online Meeting

Join us for an online discussion around the Public Service Launchpad Accelerator programme with Hub Launchpad CEO Dom Potter in partnership with Globalnet21 and FutureGov.

This Accelerator will focus on bringing ideas for new public service innovation ventures or projects to a next level, and start in January. Some of you will remember our first Webinar with Joost Beunderman where we talked about the Scholarship programme. For this event we will discuss what the accelerator is about and how you can apply.

This programme will include:

• An intensive 14 week programme to incubate innovation in public services
• Programme looking for 15 teams with initial £9,400 seed investment per founder
• Looking for entrepreneurs as well as people within public service organisations
• Full or part-time commitment, with 3 days per week as a minimum
• Deadline is Tuesday 10 December 2013 at 5pm GMT, but the sooner you apply the better

The webinar will be facilitated by Francis Sealey.
Please do use social media to discuss the event. The tag will be #PSLaunchpad.

To illustrate tomorrow's conversation here is the latest blog by Dom Potter about the programme: "We look for and invest in people with a social mission, rather than people with a specific business plan" http://www.hublaunchpad.net/2013/11/great-people-and-social-missions/

For me it is for information only. Would like to know more about the "other side" though i.e the enterprise side, for example what is a "scholar" etc

Quick question to all: Are you thinking of applying to the Accelerator? If yes do you have already a co-founder or do you need finding one?

I would have signed up to come but I'll be on the way back from France that evening Am v. interested in this and for the RSA Social Entrepreneurs Network http://rsafellowship.com/group/socialentrepreneursnetwork. Some/many Spotlighters have been doing this thing - and there could well be a productive and creative nexus to be made that could bring some of these services to scale up and have a real big effect.
Friday 29 November, 9 - 10.30am is RSA SEN breakfast looking at social enterprise and innovation in education with Catriona Maclay from Hackney Pirates (http://hackneypirates.org/), and Jonny Sobczyk from The Brilliant Club (http://www.thebrilliantclub.org/) who will be talking about their work - and we're discussing some Qs.

For this event, We're also organising at the Hub Westminster an informal meet-up with Hub Launchpad scholars and non-scholars where you can share your project, and get feedback from your peers. This is for people who want to find or join a team for the accelerator and watch together on the screen the webinar:

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
