GlobalNet21 Networking & Development Meeting

We would like to invite you to our next informal networking event where members of our network can meet, share ideas, and suggest events and activities for the future.

In this meeting in April several people will talk about their events and activities both within GlobalNet21 and out, where all can join in with new ideas and plans for the future. We will also talk about our citizen journalist project and this is a good time to do it as it comes after our launch as Media Trust Beacon Hub for this at the end of March. We are revamping our Blog so that it is a citizen journalist blog and are looking at possibly using a meetup group to encourage people to become involved.

We will also keep you update on arrangements for our PICS Festival 2012: Photographic Images Changing Society that we are holding in May where we will have exhibitions, workshops and talks.

We also have other ideas about extending our public engagement role to other areas outside of London, to extend our webinars so they can become more global and partnering with Universities, companies and NGOs who really want to make a change. But fundamental to all this is that we do not change our existing mission of public engagement around the major issues of this century where we are free to discuss and debate.

You may have ideas about what we should do and we would be happy to hear them and see what is possible. But if you just want to attend to find out what is happening and meet others then this is the time and place to do it.

We will hold this at The Charterhouse Bar between Farringdon St and The Barbican and opposite Smithfield Market. They have offered us a function room on the first floor and they also have a bar downstairs. They serve food as well so if you want to eat then you will be able to.

There will be plenty of time to network and engage in informal conversation and to talk and get to know each other. So come along and help us with ideas for the coming year.

We held our first informal meeting like this in September, which was a real success when we combined it with the launch of the book Global Public Square. At that meeting several people also talked about the events they are organising in GlobalNet21 and the positive impact that being involved has had on them.

We really do look forward to seeing you there.

Thanks to all those who attended this meeting. As agreed I have sent out some notes about our discussion to all those who expressed an interest in this meeting and also added it to the Globalnet21 Discussion Forum.

Good discussion with a lot to cover. We might have split into groups a bit earlier, and then had some report backs ... I think we are going to try that another time.

And a link to "Open Space Technology" (a different use of the word technology) and Social Innovation Camp (which again doesn't have to involve bits and bytes).

Hello Christina. Pressure of other activities prevents me joining you for this Thurs, April[masked], meeting. Will you be emailing a summary of the update on the citizen journalism project and the PICS Festival 2012 details afterwards?
I'd appreciate receiving a copy, if you are. Many thanks.
    Michael Young.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
