At our meeting on June 14th we discussed a number of outcomes and future events following the PICS Festival in May? These included,

A) Feedback from the Festival itself which was very positive. PhotoVoice also provided us with some analysis from their twitter feeds.

B) Kim from The Media Trust told the meeting about the app they are developing to link professional journalists to the photography of citizen journalists and this was of interest to some people there especially Sylvia who was involved in a project in India.

C)It was mentioned that a Global Summit was being organised between August 15th to 17th just after the main Olympics to discuss a sustainable future and to see if the spirit of the Olympics could be transferred into developing that. They had suggested that we might like to take part. It was suggested that

  • PhotoVoice would do a workshop on the Wednesday or Thursday.
  • GlobalNet21 would do a meeting on the Legacy of the Olympics on the Friday evening and
  • The Global Summit had offered us exhibition space to follow up our PICS Festival but we were not sure if we would be able to take up that space. However since then Sylvia has said she would take a day with her Indian project so if we had 2 to 4 other people who wanted to exhibit under joint names for the other time then we might be able to use that space. So we can actively look into that.
  • There is also the possibility that we might do two other events as well at the Summit but this is still being discussed - one on young adults and another on the media.

You can find out more about the summit at http://www.asci-urban...

D)Jazz suggested a Social Networking Meeting in September which would link into our citizen journalist project and this is now being considered.

E) We also discussed out citizen journalist project and how we can take it forward.

Since this meeting I have also had a meeting with Patrick Chalmers who is interested in helping us develop the audio and video part of our Blog and is seething up a meeting with a company to discuss this further.

I hope this captured what we discussed and if I have left anything out then please add it to the comments on the site page for this Meetup.

Best Wishes,

Francis
