Join Gloucester County Humanists for our regular monthly meeting, held on the third Sunday of each month from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at the Gloucester County Library, 389 Wolfert Station Rd, Mullica Hill NJ. We meet in Conference Room C.
Discussion centers around Humanism, atheism, secularism, church-state separation, and other related topics. Meet your fellow local Humanists and help us plan GCH activities and events.
Bill Reitter will lead our September 15 meeting. His topic will be "Is Peace Possible in a Fearful, "Terrorist" World?"
Bill says, "We have talked, protested and prayed for peace...and what real impact has it all had? Now we have something new: Peace Studies. Since 1950, Johann Galtung and others have been actually studying peace scientifically and historically for the first time. They have created accredited university courses that are now being taught in many schools around the world. Is war and violence necessary parts of human nature, or do people want to cooperate and achieve true peace at home and on earth? What are the proven ingredients for achieving a lasting peace?"
