Ethiopian Dinner *Contamination Risk*

I ate at Bete-Lukas several weeks ago and have been wanting to go back ever since. Their food was fantastic and their injera is gluten free! They do have several dishes on their menu that contain gluten so cross contamination is a risk. However, I'm somewhat sensitive to CC and I didn't feel sick at all when I ate there.

I'd love to go back for dinner in the next week or two. The sooner the better, really... I can't hold off much longer! ;) If anyone is interested in joining, please let me know if you have a suggestion on a day/time. Thanks!

It was good. Our waiter was a riot. He should be working at a comedy club.

The Ethiopian flatbread is Teff flour so gluten free however they ruin it for those of us GF with barley flour added to the dough. So avoid the bread.

The injera served at Bete-Lukas is 100% gluten free (they do not use barley flour or any other gluten containing flour). There are, however, three menu options that are not GF (the 1st two appetizers listed on their menu and one fish dish, which is battered).

Although, I have found that some Ethiopian restaurants do mix gluten containing flour with teff flour, so always be sure to ask when trying out a new restaurant. :)

I'm going to make a reservation tonight for dinner on Thursday. I heard from Steve but I just wanted to make sure that the rest of the folks who RSVP'd (Angela, Barbara and David) are definitely able to make it. Let me know, thanks!

I had to change the date to Thursday instead of Friday. Sorry if that doesn't work for all of you but we can always go again soon, I never get tired of Ethiopian food!

Aaaaaaaand I double booked myself. Turns out I will be in Seattle next weekend Fri-Sun. Would next Thursday the 15th work for you guys instead?

I set the date for tomorrow at 7 (I believe this words for Steve and Cece) but if doesn't work for the majority of folks, we can see about pushing it back to next week. Let me know.

Hey Jen! I don't know if you saw my last comment, so I'll re-post it here. We literally moved here a week ago, and we're still trying to get unpacked and settled. I'll have to pass for this week, but could probably do next week. Have fun if you meet up tomorrow, and I'll catch you all next time!

I agree Steve - Lets do next Friday at 6, that seems to work better for everyone.

Why not do next Friday so that Cece can attend? Also, I think Angela would prefer 6pm - me too if possible. Thanks for taking on this one.

Cece - I'm originally from Chicago (Elmwood Park to be exact) and also just moved to Portland (but from Tampa). I look forward to meeting you! Steve - Look forward to seeing you again, glad to know another fellow spicy food lover! ;)

Do any days work better than others? Is this Friday around 7 to soon? If so, perhaps later next week? I'm pretty flexible.

Angela - Unfortunately, Ken and I typically work until 5 or 6 so we really can't meet any earlier than 7.
