In the first meeting I talked a bit about our usage of tigertonic(https://github.com/rcrowley/go-tigertonic) for creating json based rest api. We wrote a small package that send the http usage metrics to Newrelic servers. Comments are welcome

    Hi ,
First , I would like to set up a meeting for may 18th or 20th , if you have preferable dates , please message me .

Second , I'm using the holiday to catch up with my debts , I already added a first joint venture suggestion to https://trello.com/c/pUeoFKFL/13-the-ultimate-reporting-dashboard-engine

and Hope I will be able to do the same for another 3 optional nit project options .

Last , many of you contact me in person with questions and suggestions , I think using this wall or the trello wall (whichever suites best for the topic) will not only create interaction , but may get you more answers and faster .

I started a trello board at (https://trello.com/b/1SzlrcLX/go-israel-meetup-ideas) to track all the ideas. Ping me ([masked]) and I'll add you the the board. This worked well for me in L.A. Gophers

    Hi .

I've been getting three different kind of inputs, some on this board and some in mail:
    1. "I have an interesting topic/case study to share on the next meeting" .
    2. questions and references, which are usually private, but I really do think its not a shame to ask, and If you ask online, others will also either learn from the answers or answer instead/in addition to my answers.
    3. Ideas for the opensource initiative .

As for the topics for the next meeting, I would Like to set a tentative meeting for may 14th, If that looks too far , please let me know, as the other spokesmen will probably need most of the preparation time now , it really doesn't have to wait on my behalf .
We will set a short vote for the most interesting subjects for it .

As for the initiative , I will try to sum up all opportunities , and I hope we can set up a mission team , as part of the meeting , or even before . Help in organization will also be appreciated .

    Great Vibes !

    Guy .

Hey, Sorry I missed the first meeting, I just couldn't juggle my schedule. For the next meeting(s), here are a couple of subjects I'd be glad to talk about:

    1. Putting Go in production. We've put up a few large scale Go based systems in production recently at EverythingMe and I'll gladly share the lessons learned, infrastructure we had to develop or adapt, gotchas we encountered, etc.

    2. Working with GroupCache. It's a super cool distributed cache layer for Go applications written by Google. We're using it and we're very happy.

    3. HTTP Middleware in Go. How to hijack and manipulate requests across Go's HTTP stack for fun and profit. 4. Advanced reflection techniques. How to harness the power of Go's reflect package to do some cool shit.

I volunteer to give a lecture about Go's memory management. It's an interesting topic IMHO, with discussions occurring in LKML. I'm far from expert on this topic, but I hope I'll know better by the time of the lecture.

Anyone interested? If you think you'll want to come, please "like" this post, so that we'll be able to decide if there's enough interest.

    Thanks

    Guy,
I'll probably will write a short blog post about in a few weeks, once we will gather some more data. I'll be happy to present it as a test case

    Aviv ,
You'r app looks cool (I'm gonna try it soon) ,
can you elaborate some on your development "parts" (from front end to back) ?
Actually I believe the challenges and solution you faced can be used as a great meetup test-case conversation :)

    Great to see you gophers!

My open source project in Go that I talk on it:
gobench::HTTP/HTTPS load test and benchmark tool

    https://github.com/cmpxchg16/gobench

It will be great if we put all our wish list here, and the community will vote/pop/execute

    Hi .

I'd like to thank all the attendees , really I expected more newbies , and was surprised to see the large part were actually people that implanted GO as part of their businesses .
Nevertheless I got the impression that I am dealing with professionals , and the After-Meeting talks were as inspiring .

I did promise someone (sorry , didn't catch your name) I will Upload/Share the slide of the Mini-Hadoop server we did not get to , and although it was not suggested as a joint project ,
I believe that a lite-Hadoop for small – medium companies can be a Huge success and a fun open-source collaboration in GO , can start very lite and grow .

I will cut it out of the presentation , write down the part I was suppose to explain orally , and Upload in some format .

Maybe that will be the next Meetup conversation which can be a blueprint meetup and not a stand-and-present as we suggested...

In general it was good. As a programing newbie I liked the first part and it gave inspiration to learn this language and use it in my small projects. The second part was more professional and I got lost.

For some reason, joining the Google Campus via Twitter didn't work for me. But using LinkedIn did work.
