rejoice about the features of Go

On the 11th of June, 17:30, GoStockholm and Valtech will be hosting a Go meetup in the offices of Valtech at Hantverkargatan 5.

Scheduled talks:

Stefan Nilsson: Go Concurrently

This talk gives an introduction to concurrent programming in Go. It will cover goroutines (concurrent threads of execution) and channels (go's basic synchronization primitive). We will also look at some basic concurrency patterns in Go and discuss how Go handles deadlock and data races.

Mattias Hansson: From OOP to Go

Powerful concepts in Go for developers coming from an OOP background:

  • Types
  • Interfaces
  • Inference
  • Scope
  • Closures

What is new or different in Go compared to several other mainstream languages? What similarities are there with other languages? Why?

In addition I am - as usual - still discussing details with some potential surprise speakers. And anyone with an interesting topic is welcome to contact me at [masked]!

Valtech is graciously providing the participants with sandwiches and beer, thus imposing an 18 year age limit on the proceedings. Of course, non alcoholic beverages are also available.

Pardon the fish-eye effect and possible shakiness ... it's all done with my small "action type" of camera, without display (Sony HDR AS15).

Hope it is of any use for someone, though! :)

I just noticed the start time of the event, thought it was going to start later… will be 30 minutes late or so.

Kollektivtrafiken har brutit ihop (tydliga concurrency-problem), så jag blir lite sen.
