TOOTLE - Easy-paced 17 miles around N/NE PDX.

The Ride:It's the usual, old faithful tootle around N/NE PDX. I judge the pace by what I think everyone is capable of doing and staying together at the same time.

We've been doing this ride for a few weeks and it's easy, fun, safe and social. We will ride 17 miles very casually around N/NE PDX. Very social, great for folks that haven't ridden with us before. Nobody gets dropped, ever.

The Route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1586472

Start Location - Ride will start and end at Good Neighbor

The grid below describes the ride difficulty. The red notes below apply to this ride.

Pace 13-14 mph

Distance 17 miles

Hills Flat.
Fitness ½ Day - this should take 2 hours
Attitude Social – nobody gets dropped, we regroup at every turn
Traffic Low w/lane mostly

Start Time – wheels rolling at 6pm – 5.45pm meet & greet – Call JC if running late[masked]-7644. We always leave on time, but will wait a minute or 2 if you've called to say that you're that close.

Ride leader contact information – Cell is[masked] or email [masked].

Rider requirements - Helmets must be worn at all times while riding. This is a requirement and not a request.
Always bring lights, plenty of water, snacks for energy, a flat repair kit, including a spare tube. A tool kit and small pump is good, but if you don’t have one there is usually someone on a group ride who does (but don’t count on it).

If you are joining the group for the post-ride social, bring a lock.
Carry a credit card, cell phone and a little cash to buy refreshments.
Obey traffic laws and remember you’re a representative of the greater cycling community and should conduct yourself that way on the road. Please represent us well.

Well we showed the weather gods who's really in charge here. Such a glorious evening for a ride and that sun felt so good after 5 minutes of damp stuff. Welcome to NumBumz Paul. That bike is enormously interesting and I forgot to have you show me the reversible front wheel. Next time. Bryan and Patricia - it's always great, fun and joyous to ride with you. I promise to ride in running shorts and a t-shirt again in rain is forecast. It seems to work. :)

We'll just call you Magic Shorts from this point forward :) You can learn more about the Kinn's details here, http://www.kinnbikes.... although it's been/is being updated in numerous ways since the rendition shown. Happy to answer any questions. And thanks for a nice first ride, it was neat to see the houseboat area. All this, done in what I realized on the ride home were grossly maladjusted new sandals, my toes perching over the front, my heels practically in the middle of the sandal :-0 Until next time...

Ah phooey, it says RSVPs are closed. I'm assuming it's an arbitrary deadline time. Can I still come? I work over the Woodlawn Cafe, and am here on a rare Wednesday.

Haha, well that I do have :) I l o v e social rides, and now that I've got a great ride to go on them, and more elbow room as my toddler son gets older, I plan to fold them more into my life.

Moisture in the air. Nothing dramatic and Weather Bug shows the chance of precipitation drops at exactly 6pm. So I'm riding in the usual t-shirt and running shorts which will definitely keep any showers away :)

Sadly Patricia, I plan to eat a spinach salad. No need for the honey this time, but thanks for thinking of me! :)

I really wanted to do this ride, but I've volunteered to take pictures at a north portland library event. Next week, maybe.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
