7 SLEEPS LEFT - medium-paced 20 miles around N/NE PDX.

The ride : As 2013 draws to a close, we can use our last weeknight ride to reminisce and enjoy the company of great friends once more. And maybe even have a beer? Who knows?

HELPFUL HINTS - wool is wonderwool in both heat and NumBumz-ing Winter temperatures. As is a cheap outer glove (I use a pair of cheap synthetic hairy gloves from Freddy's - like $5-10) to go over your regular bike gloves. And 2 pairs of socks make a heck of a difference.

This is the route we've been doing recently - The Bike Bridges of Multnomah County would be a good alternative title. We'll try to maintain a decent, but not crazy, pace. So looking at a minimum 13mph. I judge the actual pace by what I think everyone is capable of doing and staying together at the same time. I expect a pace of somewhere in the 13-15mph vicinity. Pretty comfortable for most folks.

We've been doing parts of this ride for a few weeks and it's easy, fun, safe and social. Very flat. We will ride 20 miles very casually around N/NE PDX. Very social, great for folks that haven't ridden with us before. Nobody gets dropped, ever.

I have one request. There will probably be a wait list and I don't mind adding 1 or 2, but please help me by managing your RSVP so that I can maximize the number of folks who want to ride. I know last-minute things happen and can't be avoided. The more I know (like texting "Hey JC I'm 50:50 because of work" the day before) lets me juggle things more effectively for everyone. Doesn't mean you're not riding. Works?

The Route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3607344

Start Location - Ride will start at OPH, post-ride social there.

Pace 13-15 mph

Distance 20 miles

Hills Flat. Fitness ½ Day - this should take 2 hours

Attitude Social – nobody gets dropped, we regroup at every turn

Traffic Low with bike paths and bike lanes mostly

Start Time – wheels rolling at 6pm – 5.45pm meet & greet – Call JC if running late[masked]-7644. We always leave on time, but will wait a minute or 2 if you've called to say that you're that close.

Ride leader contact information – Cell is[masked] or email [masked].

Rider requirements - Working lights are mandatory. Helmets must be worn at all times while riding. This is a requirement and not a request. Always bring plenty of water, snacks for energy, a flat repair kit, including a spare tube. A tool kit and small pump is good, but if you don’t have one there is usually someone on a group ride who does (but don’t count on it).

If you are joining the group for the post-ride social, bring a lock. Carry a credit card, cell phone and a little cash to buy refreshments. Obey traffic laws and remember you’re a representative of the greater cycling community and should conduct yourself that way on the road. Please represent us well.

Note: Your RSVP signifies that you agree to the following. Organizers, event hosts and other participants will not be held responsible for any individual at any event. Each rider rides at their own risk and is solely responsible for any damage to their equipment or themselves.

Final Note: RSVP’s cannot include a +1 or Guest. If you choose to bring a friend or family member, they themselves must sign up as a member of NumBumz.

Me to, showed up and didn't ride but had a wonderful time with my honey and my good friend Kris. It was just one of those evenings just to chill, sorry JC. Welcome Lisa and hopefully I will ride with you in the future and great to see you again Randy, it's been a while.
Merry Christmas to everybody, if I don't see, Happy New Year to.

You guys never told me it was an option to come for the beer and company and not have to suffer on the damp cold dark streets. That just takes the Num out of your Bumz! It was good to see you too, and to get to meet Bryan (hi).

We all knew it was going to rain and be a wet ride, except it didn't and wasn't! Thanks for waiting for the NumBum that was running late. :)

JC, sorry but I really don't like to ride in the rain, especially at night. Was hoping it would hold off until later tonight however it's already started here in Vancouver. Have a great ride. I think I'll head to the gym instead.

For those that haven't figured out the reference in the ride name. There are seven sleeps until Christmas.

For those really challenged people as Wendy says, "It's kind of like the kids asking are we there yet" The answer from mom in regards to is it Christmas yet might be "No Honey, There are seven sleeps until Christmas"

JC, I feel challenged to keep up with you on the creativity. This one took some thought for sure.
