The ride :

Monster Cookie Metric Century
Sunday, April 27, 2014
The Monster Cookie Metric Century Bicycle Ride is the Salem Bicycle Club's premier spring event. The ride starts at the State Capitol Mall in Salem and takes riders over back roads to Champoeg State Park and back to Salem. The ride is open to all bicyclists who agree to Share the Road with other users by riding safely, lawfully, and courteously. Each participant must wear a helmet that meets CPSC requirements.
The route is generally flat with a few short hills. The map of the route offers a preview of the ride. GPS users candownload a track of the route. Snacks, fruit, refreshments, and toilet facilities are available at a rest stop and at Champoeg State Park. The route will close at 4:00 p.m. Participants should pace themselves so that they can complete the ride by that time.
The first Monster Cookie Metric Century was held in 1977. To learn about that inaugural ride, read Monster Cookie Nostalgia. More than 1,800 cyclists participated in the 37rd annual Monster Cookie Metric Century held on April 28, 2013.

Rider requirements - Helmets must be worn at all times while riding. This is a requirement and not a request. Always bring plenty of water, snacks for energy, a flat repair kit, including a spare tube, a tool kit, and small pump. This is a daytime ride so working lights are not mandatory, but are recommended.
If you are joining the group for the post-ride social, bring a lock. Carry a credit card, cell phone and a little cash to buy refreshments. Obey traffic laws and remember you’re a representative of the greater cycling community and should conduct yourself that way on the road. Please represent us well.
Note: Your RSVP signifies that you agree to the following. Organizers, event hosts and other participants will not be held responsible for any individual at any event. Each rider rides at their own risk and is solely responsible for any damage to their equipment or themselves.
Final Note: RSVP’s cannot include a +1 or Guest. If you choose to bring a friend or family member, they themselves must sign up as a member of NumBumz.
