Presidents Day Ride - 2 bridge loop - 19 miles

  • Joe's Crab Shack

101 Se Columbia Way, Vancouver, WA (map)

    45.621586 -122.671501

  • Meet outside Joe's
  • The Ride: A great route, although a little shorter, and a little slower than our training rides of late. This one is about enjoying the day together! We will ride as a group, although we may stretch it out on the Marine drive bike trail. Very social. Nobody gets dropped, ever.

    The Route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3932797

Start Location - Ride will start and end at Joe's Crab Shack

The grid below describes the ride difficulty.

The red notes below apply to this ride.

    Pace 12-14 mph

    Distance 19 miles

Modest hills to start. Fast down hill on 205 bridge. Mostly flat on the Oregon side (Marine Drive)

    This should take 2 hours

Attitude Social – nobody gets dropped, we regroup at every turn.

The Weather: We ride in rain showers, but brutal cold, soupy fog, or sideways rain will cancel.

Start Time – wheels rolling at 11:15 am – 11:00 am meet & greet – Call Patricia if running late[masked]-0765. We always leave on time, but will wait a minute or 2 if you've called to say that you're that close.

Ride leader contact information – Cell is[masked] or email [masked].

Rider requirements - Helmets must be worn at all times while riding. This is a requirement and not a request.
Always bring lights, plenty of water, snacks for energy, a flat repair kit, including a spare tube. A tool kit and small pump is good, but if you don’t have one there is usually someone on a group ride who does (but don’t count on it).

If you are joining the group for the post-ride social, bring a lock.
Carry a credit card, cell phone and a little cash to buy refreshments.
Obey traffic laws and remember you’re a representative of the greater cycling community and should conduct yourself that way on the road. Please represent us well.

The weather suppose to calm down by 11:00 but I don't know what the roads and bridges are like from the rain and winds last night. I would rather be safe. I will re-schedule this ride.

Hector, I remember you from Bryan's ride, my husband. I will add you but as of now I'm almost 100% this ride will be canceled. I am still praying to the weather gods. I will put you on this ride, if we are lucky, so stay tuned.

Update, Cheryl Raeburn,( with much appreciation) is going to help me out for this ride so everybody can attend. Bryan and I tested this ride today( Thursday) to make sure the roads are OK. The bridges are a little gravelly but not bad. Everybody on the wait list plus a few others will be with Cheryl. Now the only other challenge is the WEATHER, if bad I will cancel the ride altogether. Hopefully we can all ride Monday.
If you have any doubts PLEASE update to NO, thanks and hope to see everybody soon.
