Kezar is a great location for track workouts. The track is in pretty good shape and there are lights at night and in the AM.
The track is open to the public most of the time. Every once in a while it is closed. We meet at the rear gate when we're barred from entering the track. Otherwise we meet at the NW corner of bleachers near Section R. The workout starts right at 6:30 with warm-ups.
Let me know if you're coming since I know traffic and parking can make people late. If you arrive late, look for us on the track near the sand pit. We congregate there in between workout segments.
The workouts are varied and we usually have 3 -4 running workouts. We don't train for other track events, only running.
Workouts include:
- A maintenance type workout for newcomers or folks in between specific goals
- A 5K/10K workout for folks training for a short distance race
- A half and full marathon workout for the slightly crazy marathon mentality folks
- A "veg out" run to calm those jittery nerves right before a competition or after a stressful day
Our track workouts are drop-in. Come any time. First visit is free. After that, a $6 fee is required. Pay by cash or buy a coupon book with cash or check ($30).
Our track workouts are serious but not meant for elite athletes. Some of us run slow!
Bring water and layers of clothing. Kezar is notorious for fog and cold wind.
Join us after for "brew".
Easiest parking is available on Kezar Drive (near Golden Gate Park)
First timers? Try to come a bit early to sign a release and say hi. Your first visit is FREE. After, bring cash or a check for $6 made out to ALTB International, Inc, buy a $30 coupon booklet, or become a 6 month or 1 year member and make the commitment!
