Walnut Creek Wed Fun Run with Michaela and Teresa

  • WOW is changing its Wednesday night format to alternating track and fun runs.

    The current plan is to offer a fitness walk or fun run, every other week as an alternate workout to track.

    Fun runs are led by WOW Team Mentors, and are meant to introduce the community, in the Outer East Bay, to the wonders of women's fitness and the WOW Team. We will meet at Las Lomas Track and decide whether to run here or on the trail near-by.

    Track workouts, led by award winning WOW Team Coach Stephanie Atwood will meet every other Wednesday and begin at Las Lomas Track. These workouts will give each participant the opportunity to work with Coach Stephanie and develop speed and running technique with a pro. Track workouts have a fee of $12 in advance or $15 drop-in. For WOW Members there is no extra charge

    We will use the track to improve speed for the experienced runners and mid-distance fitness and work on breathing, pacing, and endurance for novice and less experienced runners and walkers.

    Please RSVP whether you are a paid member or a drop-in. This will help us get a head count.

    Intermediate Track Workout (typical)

    Warmup 10 minutes of jogging or walking followed by 5 minutes of dynamic stretches

    Do 8 - 12 X 400m at 2 mile pace or faster (all out) with 2 minutes RI

    5 minutes cool down


    Beginner Track Workout (typical)

    Warmup 10 minutes of jogging or walking followed by 5 minutes of dynamic stretches

    Walk Hard or Run continuously for 1 full lap, walk 1 lap to recover

    Repeat with as much time as you have for the workout

    5 minutes of easy walking or jogging for cool down
