WOW Point Isabel, El Cerrito Workout Sun Jan 20

Point Isabel features a flat, fast route along the Bay. The course for walking or running is separate from the dog walking area though dogs can also be on leash on the bike path/pedestrian route.

To get to the start, follow Central Avenue all the way to the end (past Costco) and take a right on Isabel Drive. Park in the parking area to south of the cafe . We meet at the pedestrian path to the right of parking (when you face the cafe), away from the dog walking area (near the bathrooms).

Work out for 60 minutes or more. We ask that you come prepared to move for at Least 60 minutes. Your pace doesn't matter but a positive attitude and a commitment to be mobile for 60 minutes will allow you to fit in right away.

Fitness walkers, runners, walker/runners all welcome! You don't have to be training for anything specific. For specific distances ask us which races we're training for.The WOW Team is ongoing. Join any time to walk or run, always, every weekend. To Fitness!

If the weather is good plan to stay afterward for coffee and conversation! If you are new this is a great time to meet us!

Dogs are welcome, on a leash at this location. Strollers are also acceptable. There is a drop-in fee of $7 (via paypal) or go to www.gowowteam.com/join-us for longer term memberships.

    Sunday training:

    Everyone: 5 min walking warm-up

    5K/10K - after warm-up 1 min POWER Walking or RUNNING, 1 min RECOVERY Walking. Repeat 6 times. Walk or run/walk at a steady pace for the next 43 minutes, for a total workout of 60 minutes.

    Half Marathon Walkers - Same as above but walk steadily for a total of 63 minutes for a total workout of 80 minutes.

    Half marathon run/walk trainees - after warm up, run/walk at 1:1 or 4:1 for a total of 80 minutes. If you are thinking run/walk is too slow, push the intensity for 4 minutes then use that 1 minute for recovery walking and you will get a heck of a workout. We will continue this run/walk technique for at least 6 weeks total, then will reconsider adding straight running, according to the groups.

    Don't forget to stretch at the end!
