Save the Date: Outdoor Climb at Talking Headwall

UPDATED WITH NEW DETAILS

We're pretty excited to be partnering with the Vertical Rock Outdoor School! We'll be trying different times and locations throughout the summer, but here are the details for this pilot program.

Price: $40
This sort of program usually runs up to $100 a day. VR is charging $55, but we're getting a discount for our group. They hope to eventually have an online registration (maybe even by the end of the week), but at the moment it will be cash only.

What do you get for this price?
All gear provided: helmets, harnesses, the works. The gyms certified outdoor instructors will set up and safety test all the rope systems, as well as belay and provide instruction. All you have to do is show up and be ready to climb.

For Talking Headwall we will meet at the gym at 9am, sign the outdoor school waivers, and then carpool to the crag. We plan on climbing from 10-1 including a byobrown bag picnic lunch.

Is there a rain date?
No. If it is raining mildly, you will get wet. If it is raining such that climbing becomes dangerous, one of the outdoor school instructors will make that call on the ground.

Other details?

You MUST RSVP by the Wednesday prior to the event. Climbers must be aged 7 or older.

Mark your calendars and I'll keep you updated as more details arrive.

Hey guys! As you may have gathered we have an 85% chance of thunderstorms on the crag. That, plus the slickness from last nights rain is just making today's outing too dicey. We're looking to reschedule either next Sunday or Saturday, same bat time same bat place. Let me know which your preference is :)

Saturday would be awesome for me as I'm leaving town Sunday for a few days.

Bummed we got rained out, but cool that Laurie stuck around to let me know when I showed up. My overly optimistic self was convinced we'd make it. Maybe next week!!

Hey! So instead of +1 I've got +5 with me if you're still looking for spots to fill and/or can accomodate more than a dozen people...! My sis has got a couple friends that are pretty excited about climbing.

So, the gym needs a 6:1 climber to staff ratio, if we took more than 12, they would need to schedule/pay another person. I would say you are welcome to bring +3, but afraid not all +5. At least not for this round.

Okay great, thanks for the info Laurie! Now, if one of my three were to back out last minute, would he have to owe the 40 dollars?

This is a friendly reminder that we need to have 12 RSVPs (not counting me) by WEDNESDAY for the climb to be a go. Once Wednesday rolls around, if you are RSVP'ed yes, you will be obligated to pay even if you back out.

I updated this with more details from the gym. We're still ironing out the details as we pilot this partnership, so hit me with whatever questions you have as we work it all out!
