John Scott will deliver a casual talk on Google's new flow oriented, systems programming language named "Go". The talk will emphasis distinguishing characteristics of Go when compared to traditional, Algolish languages such as C/C++, Python, Java and will be most beneficial for experienced programmers with little knowledge of Go. In other words, the talk will not be a tutorial on Go overall, but will mostly cover what makes Go unique, like channels, slices and cheap concurrency and interfaces. Will also touch on some of the historical and academic inspirations of Go and a brief case study.
Food will be served at 6:30pm.
