Why should you start using Go now?

The first meetup of GolangKRK. We're thrilled to start the community and introduce you to Go language. There are two talks scheduled:

• C++ and Ruby: pick the best of two worlds and find out that it's Go. Proven by real life example of concurrent HTTP service by Sebastian Sito

• Concurrency by design: solving problems with focus on tasks and actors, instead of struggling with thread safety by Szymon Sobczak

We'll do our best to have all of you guys understand and learn something from the presentations, so even if you don't know Go yet, fear not and come to the meetup!

If you want to check out what kind of syntax to expect, check out the Tour of Go.

There was a question to compare Erlang and Go concurrency model. I'll try to make presentation for next meeting about this topic :)

It will happen ;) But deleting it may be still appropriate, probably list of participants is already invalid. Anyway I guess it's not best place to discuss it ;)

In 3 days, there is meetup called "Not so boring introduction to Erlang": http://www.meetup.com... It could be good idea to come and check out, if you are interested in Go vs Erlang comparison.

It was great to see all of you, guys! The code from my slides is here: https://github.com/ssobczak/golangkrk. Unfortunately there will be no video - my camera battery died really fast...

Hello everybody! Since my level of Polish language is just a bit more than for basic conversation at the moment, I want to ask: the event will be in Polish or English?

    July 29, 2013

    • Henrik G.

      Yeah, English is very fine.

Great! Sorry, but I have to cancel at the last moment :( I hope I will be available on the next!

Why not join up with GDGKraków? Kraków has had a long history of groups joining up their efforts... :-)

We want to keep focus on Go only and build a tight community of Go developers and companies having projects in this language. That's why we want to stay separate, but sure we want to join up our efforts with GDG in building great Kraków Meetup community!
