We actually didn't get terribly far last month - just to the other side of the Currumbin Bridge, in fact! - but it was a lovely walk along the river and something a little different from our usual beachfront jaunts.
For July, we'll meet a little further north at the Palm Beach SLSC and walk back to the river mouth and then north again until we're ready to call a halt. We'll finish with drinks, either at the Surf Club or somewhere nearby.
THE WALK
This walk continues along the Oceanway path, although I'm guessing some of this will either be along Jefferson Lane or the beach, whichever you prefer. As always, we'll turn back when you've had enough.
ORGANISER
Karen Ransome - 0431 958 726. Please make sure your RSVP is up to date the night before so we know to keep an eye out for you. If you find you can't attend on the day, I would appreciate it if you could let me know by sending a text so the group is not kept waiting around unnecessarily.
NEW MEMBERS WELCOME!
If you haven't been to one of our events before, our monthly Walk & Wine is a great way to get a feel for what we're all about and to meet some new people. We've set ourselves the goal of walking the Gold Coast Oceanway this year - a 36-km track that extends from Pt Danger on the NSW/Qld border up to the Southport Spit. Each month, we'll do a short section on a Sunday afternoon, followed by coffee or drinks at the nearest watering hole. This is purely a social event and we take it at a very leisurely pace so fitness is not an issue.
Look forward to seeing you there! Cheers -
Karen

Water, hat, sunscreen, comfortable shoes.

We'll pass around the hat for a $1 contribution from each participating member, as usual. This contribution pays for our registration with the Meetup website which now costs around $235 per year (thanks to the lousy US/AUD exchange rate!)
OUR PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY PHILOSOPHY:
We are not a formal organisation or association and take no responsibility for any mishaps that may occur as a result of our activities. As such, it is up to each individual to make sure they are capable of attempting this track.
