RSVPS FOR THIS WALK WILL OPEN ON 12 MAY, 2013
By popular demand, we're heading back to where it all began! Continuing our lovely Sunday afternoon Walk & Wine series, we're going to start all over again at Point Danger on the Qld/NSW border and follow the Oceanway right along the Coast in a series of short strolls, followed by drinks at the nearest watering hole.
THE WALK: This month, Barry will take charge on a leisurely 4km circuit from the Rainbow Bay Surf Club, around Snapper Rocks, up to Point Danger, out along the Tweed River rock wall and back around the Jack Evans Boat Harbour up to Greenmount and back to the Surf Club.
ORGANISER: Barry Baker -[masked] 280. Please make sure your RSVP is up to date the night before and text Barry on the day if you find you can't make it at the last minute so the group does not have to wait around unnecessarily.
TAKE THE OCEANWAY CHALLENGE! The Oceanway is a 36-km beachfront walkway which runs from the entrance to the Tweed River on the NSW/Qld border up to The Spit at Main Beach. We've broken it down into a series of 16 short sections, with each one starting and finishing at a surf club or convenient watering hole. Why not set yourself the challenge of completing our entire series of Oceanway walks? No-one managed to claim the prize for completing every section last time so it's up for grabs again! If you would like to add this prestige trophy to your wine cabinet, make sure you come along to the Oceanway Part 1 this month.
WHAT TO BRING: Water, hat, sunscreen, comfortable shoes. Photo ID is required for entry to our surf lifesaving clubs so please make sure you bring your driver's licence or similar.
NEW MEMBERS WELCOME! If you haven't been to one of our events before, our monthly Walk & Wine is a great way to get a feel for what we're all about and to meet some new people. This is purely a social event and we take it at a very leisurely pace so fitness is not an issue.
COST: We'll pass around the hat again for a $1 contribution to cover our registration on the Meetup website which is around $190 per year. We are a strictly non-profit organisation and any additional funds in the kitty are donated to the Springbrook SES each year.
OUR PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY PHILOSOPHY: We are not a formal organisation or association and take no responsibility for any mishaps that may occur as a result of our activities. As such, it is up to each individual to make sure they are capable of attempting this walk.
