UNFORTUNATELY THE PURLINGBROOK - APPLE TREE PARK TRACK ORIGINALLY LISTED FOR THIS MONTH'S EVENT IS STILL CLOSED DUE TO THE STORM DAMAGE. I HAVE CHANGED THE TRACK TO TWIN FALLS AND WILL RUN TWO GROUPS TO GIVE AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET BACK OUT INTO THE BUSH.
We are very limited in our options for bushwalks at the moment due to the extensive damage caused by the January storms. Almost all of the longer walks in Springbrook and Lamington National Parks are still closed, as is Mt Warning. In the interim, we will have to use the shorter tracks or the alternative beach walks that Kevin has been running.

Please make sure your RSVP is up to date the night before the walk. If you find you can't make it on the day, text the Organiser so that the group is not kept waiting around unnecessarily.
Twin Falls Circuit - 4km
Always a favourite, this lovely circuit provides a good cross-section of vegetation and landscape on a mini adventure through rock clefts, behind two waterfalls and via palms and tree ferns. Just make sure you head out in an anti-clockwise direction!
WHAT TO BRING: Lunch, snacks and water. You can probably get away without hiking boots but it would be better to wear 'em if you've got 'em. I would also ask ALL members to bring their own first aid kit. Other than that, it's the usual - sunscreen, a hat and insect repellent.
AFTERWARDS: Coffee shop near the entrance to the Purlingbrook Falls carpark
COST: We'll pass around the hat again for a $1 contribution to cover our registration on the Meetup website which is around $170 per year. Any additional funds will be donated to the Springbrook SES.
PERSONAL RESPONSILIBITY PHILOSOPHY: The Gold Coast Hiking Meetup Group is not a registered association or official club - it's really just a group of people walking together. As such, we cannot be held responsible for any accidents or injuries that may happen at or occur as a result of our events. We also cannot provide any guidance on fitness levels required. I always try to include the description from the NPWS websites but basically, it's up to individual members to decide whether they are hale and hearty enough to undertake the walk. We like to call this our 'PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY' philosophy!
