Windy Hill OSP hike

NOTE: Rearranged date.  Now 7th July.

Directions/meeting point:(the meetup.com directions linked above are not always reliable, use these details to find the start of the hike) We'll meet at the Portola Road entrance to Windy Hill OSP in Portola (If you have an Android phone you can use Chrome to Phone to transfer the link above directly to Google Maps on your phone).  I will be driving my Silver Subaru Impreza WRX, license plate ending in 468.   I'll be wearing this black Sanzaru Games hoodie (if it's not too hot). I'll send out my cell to RSVPs (but as always there is no guarantee of reception).

Will be hiking the Hamm's Gulch, Lost Trail and Razorback trails in Windy Hill OSP.  The loop will be around 8 miles and 1000 foot elevation gain.  Dogs are not allow on Lost Trail unfortunately.

Hopefully the weather will be good, but be prepared for rain or mud.  At this time of year be sure to bring sun screen and a sun hat.  Also be sure to avoid Poison Oak, which can be found on most bay area trails.

Carpooling is recommended as there is limited parking at the trailhead (There is additional parking in Portola town center if the trailhead parking is full).  I will be driving from the NOPA district of SF, email via meetup if you need a lift.

After the hike I will going to Alice's in Woodside if anyone fancies a drink and/or a snack.

I enjoyed this hike. I got to meet a lot of new people since it was the first time with golden gate hikers. The weather was perfect, and there were some good views.

Yeah it has a bit of cover, but there will exposed portions. So bring a hat, sun cream, and plenty of water. Summer hikes can be hot.

There is some open sun areas but also alot of shade. So be prepared for mixed. Not sure why the hike is at 12. I usually hike Windy Hill at 8 am.

Starting at noon is kind of the point of the group

Is this hike in the woods, where it's shady? I don't like hiking where there is too much sun, especially now that it's getting really hot. But if it's in the woods, I never did this trail, can anyone pick me up from say Java Beach Cafe in the Inner Sunset. I'd love to come along and since carpooling is recommended. It is possible that unlikely that I might have a car, in which case I can drive people, but I don't think I'll have it this week.

Sounds good, just wondering is it a steep hike, or slow and gradual, also about how fast do you hike. Hike sounds great, just want to be sure I can keep up, thanjs
