Ano Neuvo Hike

Directions/meeting point:(the directions linked above are not always reliable, use these details to find the start of the hike) the meeting point will at the at the Ano Neuvo State park lot off Hwy 1 opposite Whitehouse Creek trail (just past entrance to Costanoa resort, if you get to the main Ano Nuevo park entrance you have come to far) I will be driving my Silver Subaru Impreza WRX, license plate ending in 468.   I'll be wearing this black Sanzaru Games hoodie (if it's not too hot). I'll send out my cell to RSVPs (but as always there is no guarantee of reception).

Note: slightly later than usual start time 12:30.

This week's hike is in Ano Neuvo State Park. Exact route to be confirmed. We will cross highway 1 and head up Whitehouse Creek Road until we get to Big Basin park, where will head up Whitehouse ridge to Chalks Road and Chalks Mountain.  We will return the same way, and then (if we feel like it) walk down to the beach.   As this is longer than my usual hikes I will be stopping for a lunch break.  This will be a long hike (around 12-13 miles) with around 1600 feet elevation gain.

This hike does not include the Elephant Seal reserve (we can't visit as a group), but if you have a spare hour or two beforehand I would recommend checking it out (park at the main Ano Nuevo parking lot and follow the directions to see them, it costs $10).

Dress in layers, bring lots of water and snacks.  Hopefully the weather will be good, but be prepared for rain and mud. Also be sure to avoid Poison Oak, which can be found on most bay area trails.  We should be back well before sunset, but bring a flashlight just in case. This is a state park, so no dogs are allowed.

Carpooling recommended, as there is not a ton of parking at the trailhead.  There is a parking fee at the park.   I will be travelling from the NOPA district of San Francisco and will have two spaces (email me via meetup if you are interested).

As with all my hikes everyone signs up at their own risk, and you assume all liability associated with the hike and carpooling to it (by RSVPing you agree to our conditions of membership).

If anyone fancies a post-hike beer and a snack, we'll be heading over to the nearby Highway One Brewing after the hike.
