We have RV'd part of the route and also had the pleasure of a tornado following us through Texas. Lots to see in the small towns it passes through when you are on the actual 66. Should be a great ride but make sure you plan it all out and have your critical spare list up to date.

Actually the mother road is Route 30 Mike, otherwise known as the Oregon Trail. Paul Newman may have thought the 66 was his mother road as well as Jimmy Dean, was it? But Route 30 is the original way most went out west to settle the country. Since wagon trains predate 50's cars, Route 30 wins :-)

    Here is my evidence: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Route_30
    Called the Lincoln highway.
"Much of the historic Lincoln Highway, the first road across America (from New York City to San Francisco), became part of US 30; it is still known by that name in many areas."
And by the way, Route 66 is a breeze and way to easy to travel, too flat. Route 30 has more challenges :-) So you want to change roads? :-)

Wikipedia Charles? Anybody can post to that site. Cousin Jimbo from the Ozarks could have said that. Would you accept what he says as truth? Show me a more respectable source please.

Shucks. I guess they didn't make it... too many guys out there with male identity issues who need the sound of a Harley to feel good about themselves? :-) No reflection on you Mike! Yours is just a necessity.
