'Taboo' - Strong prohibitions relating to any area of human activity or custom that is sacred or forbidden based on moral judgement and religious beliefs. "Breaking a taboo" is usually considered objectionable by society in general, not merely a subset of a culture
The first of a monthly series of dialogues exploring different 'taboos' in our culture and our personal relationship to them. Join us for an evening of conversation and Wild Food dining!
We start with a personal story from Avi Esther (our host). This will lead into a group discussion and sharing session where we shall (with the help of Avi Esther & Dr Clive) explore what we feel and think in relation to the discussion topic, ourselves and society. We'll then have a break for some yummy dinner and finish with some more juicy sharing.
Our intention is to create a non-judgemental, nourishing and supportive environment to help us wholeheartedly share and listen. There are so many 'taboo' topics in our society - things that it's just not okay to talk about. Why are they taboo? Who says so? Why can't we talk about them openly? Why does this have so much effect on us as individuals and as a society? Our aim will be to discuss these questions and others and begin to openly discuss some of the topics that our society deems are 'taboo'.
The more we talk about the things that we think make us fucked up, the more we see just how normal we all are.
