Food Packaging at Second Harvest Heartland*

This was pushed back and hour to allow people to get to the event.  Please make sure you're there at 6, not 5 pm

We will be packaging bulk food items (pasta, rice, etc.) into smaller packages that will be sent to Second Harvest's distribution centers in the metro area. This is a two-hour commitment from 6:00-8:00 PM on a Wednesday in Minneapolis. Please make sure you wear close toe shoes, no sandals!! Think about going out for dinner or a pop afterwards to socialize with other members. More info about the organization: Second Harvest Heartland Parents may bring their children ages 14 and up.

I felt great this morning. Perhaps I should consider producing a series of corn-related exercise videos. :D

Dave, you made me laugh. My 14 year old granddaughter said she was sore last night!! We older folks seem to do just fine with physical activitiy! Volunteering is good for the body and soul.

It was nice meeting you! It was fun doing this with my granddaughter. I hope to see you at the next Good Deeds meetup.

We packed 7,560 lbs of good corn tonight, about 20 volunteers from Good Deeds, Verizon, Target and other groups combined.

Is it okay to bring a 14 year old? I thought it would be a good introduction to volunteer work.

Yes, I think children over 10 are able to participate. You'll need to sign a waiver on behalf of the child.

You can still come. They'll have enough room to handle one more. Thank you
