People Serving People

People Serving People (PSP) is a shelter for homeless children and their families. PSP provides new opportunities for healthy, stable family life. Help to serve and cleanup for lunch at People Serving People in Minneapolis. This is a 1 and 1/2 hour commitment from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. Depending on the time of the month and how many people are in residence, this can be a very busy, fast-paced session. Be prepared for anything! You can park FREE in their lot or on the street. Note: Parking meters are enforced, but you can find FREE parking on 5th Avenue or on 3rd Street west of 5th Avenue. If there is a Twins or Vikings game, please be aware that there may be delays, street closures or detours, so plan accordingly to arrive on time. Please sign in at the guard desk when you enter, then take the stairs or elevator down to the kitchen. If you do not want to wear a hair net you can wear a baseball cap.
Note: PSP allows parents to bring children ages 16 and up.
You must be committed for this event-do not RSVP if you think there's a chance you will cancel-they really are counting on us. If you change your RSVP less than 24 hours before the event you will be marked absent.

I agree, I liked it so much, I went back and served dinner tonight. Thanks for the opportunity to give back, especially to a group that appreciates it.

I'm sorry. I picked up a closing shift at work Saturday night cuz I didn't think I was needed. Got the email after 11 pm. Saturday night saying the waitlist opened up and I was on. It's 3 am. and I'm just getting home. I will not be able to make it. I hate to cancel less than 9 hours before, but I wasen't expecting to be called on less than 12 hours before.
I look forward to being involved soon!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
