Date: 01/25/2014

Time: 10 AM to 2 PM

Location: Lost Valley Prairie SNA

Description: Come join in this "cool" volunteer project! We will warm up by burning brush piles and if there isn't enough snow, do some invasive weed/brush removal. See the site's web page for a map and description. This event will be led by the Lost Valley Prairie Site Steward, Jim Smetana. No advance sign-up, but contact us if you have a large group.

Directions: Located from the Twin Cities, S on US Hwy 61 to MN Hwy 95, then N on MN 95 to Co Rd 78, then E on Co Rd 78 to Nyberg Avenue, then .5 mi N on Nyberg. Park at the end of the road. It's about a 40 minute drive from Minneapolis.  Some of us may want to carpool or meet there.

Yeah, just heard from them and keeping warm is not an issue. The bonfire is 10ft square. Make sure you wear decent winter boots and if you have a pitchfork, bring it.

I've emailed the volunteer coordinator asking that he contact me no later than 8am tomorrow if the event is cancelled due to weather. I'll update tomorrow morning before 9.

Hi all. Thanks for your interest in this event. Thankfully it's forecasted to be a beautiful day on the 25th. I'll be heading out at around 9:00am from the Powderhorn neighborhood in S. Mpls.. If anyone wants to meet at my place, I'd be glad to carpool and can fit 3-4 adults in my car. Send me an email carpooling might work for you. This is a first time event for me so I'm not quite sure what to expect but really, outdoor fires on a winters day sounds pretty awesome.
