Feed My Starving Children, Coon Rapids

Join us to help package food for starving children around the world. This is only a one and a half hour commitment from 8:00-9:30 but does so much good.

Please only RSVP yes if you're sure you will be able to attend. If you are not sure now, please RSVP closer to the date of the event as spots usually open up.

Consider bringing a monetary donation as well. There are also opportunities to purchase shirts and other crafts at the end of the event. Proceeds go toward purchasing food.

The cost to FMSC for these meals is about $50 a box. That is less than a quarter a meal.

92% of total donations received go directly to our feeding program.

FMSC is named one of the nation's Most Trustworthy Charities by the Charity Review Council, and has earned Charity Navigator's highest 4-star rating for 6 consecutive years.

Thanks,

Andy

Is anyone interested in becoming an assistant organizer that can "lead" the event? I've scheduled these, but am not able to make it myself as I have a 2 yr old and one more on the way. There are little table tents and other things which can be printed off and hung over the bench you're sitting in to at least get the group together. Please let me know and I'll add you as an assistant or leader for this event each time.

    Thanks

I would probably give it a shot, Andy. How do we proceed ?

That's great unless little kids are already sitting at that bench. People usually stand in the back during the presentation, so it would still be unclear who the meetup people are. Really, the only solution is to have an organizer (or substitute) get there early, hold a meetup sign, wear a meetup shirt, or leave a post-it note on the sign up book which bench to sit at or bag filling station (they are numbered).

Great Idea JR. tell our group which bag filling station. don' t pick 1 or 2 they fill up lst with the kids. say # 6 & 7.

even though the price is an absolute ripoff, if you get a Good Deeds t- shirt, it will help us get together as a group. right now we frequently have no idea if we are or aren't working with fellow GDS volunteers. Unless we ask.

Mike, I understand where you're coming from, but my impression is that JR is trying to be helpful, and that would make sense given the nature of the Meetup group. I'm not sure how your comment was meant to be read, but I'd like to keep my Meetup experience as positive as possible, as I'm sure others would as well.

Thx Cassie, I'm only trying to help. I've done FMSC meetups many times under different meetup groups, so I know the place well and how crowded it can get. Virtually impossible to find other meetup members, and we are not all going to buy the same shirts. LOL

I was in the warehouse making boxes....so I missed most of the fun out in the packaging area....but I sure could hear the enthusiasm of everyone! Great job!! It is a good & worthwhile cause, bringing out great people to accomplish a lot for starving children everywhere!

If it makes you feel any better, I was in the center aisle the entire time, so I saw everyone, but didn't really get to talk to anyone -at least not more than a few words here and there. But all jobs are equally important, so it's all worth it.

I hope that my earlier comment wasn't taken the wrong way. I enjoyed the outing...didn't mind making boxes & I met some nice Good Deeds people too. It was fun & I'll do it again.

Great job, everybody! Just over 100 boxes packed tonight. That will feed over 60 children for a year!

Is any coming from the Uptown area that I could catch a ride with to this place?

Hi - If you can get out to the Golden Valley area, you are welcome to ride with me. I would be happy to meet and drive from there. Let me know.

Thanks for the offer Bob, but I don't have a car to get to either Golden Valley or to Coon Rapids, hence the reason that I was looking for a ride from the Uptown area.
