Toy Shop is an opportunity for pre-registered low income families to select Christmas gifts for their children. Volunteer Assistants help in many ways to make the experience a pleasant one for these families. Volunteers help as:
- Escorts ? Guide families through the toy store atmosphere, selecting toys appropriate for their age of children
- Gift Table Stockers ? Keep the tables supplied with toys so parents can make their selections
- Sorters ? Bring supply of toys to the appropriate table areas as needed; help sort toys arriving at the site
- Registrars ? Check in families to insure their eligibility to participate in the toy shop program
Volunteers will be assigned to one of these jobs when they arrive at the toy shop sites, National Guard Armories in St. Paul, Minneapolis or Rosemount

Tips for a good volunteer experience at Toy Shop:
-Sign in when you arrive. You may wait a short while for other volunteers to arrive before the orientation begins.
-Wear comfortable shoes as you may be on your feet a lot.
-You are encouraged to wear festive but comfortable holiday attire.
-Limit the valuables you bring along. There is not a secure place to keep purses, cell phones, etc.
-Snack food and meals (lunch or supper) will be provided to volunteers.
-If you speak another language and can help translate, please tell the volunteer supervisor.
-Be flexible and have fun!
