Chris from the Westchester group sent out this e-mail regarding what the food bank might be looking for with regard to food for the food bank. Anyone that can't make the food drive open mic this Saturday and wishes to make a money or food donation can drop it at my house any time during the week or contact me to make other arrangements. Thanks to all, anything you can do to help will be much appreciated. This is all for a good cause.
I spoke with the Food Bank that we'll be donating to Saturday and asked them, in light of approaching Thanksgiving, what they would like us to donate.
They mentioned that even with the holiday they would still love to get the regular, non-perishable staples like rice, canned foods, pastas, jars of sauces, jams, jellies, peanut butter, and so on.
But in light of the holiday they would say that canned cranberry sauce and boxes of stuffing and such would be great too.
I asked about fresh foods like turkeys and vegetables, and she said that any financial contribution we make would go towards them buying fresh food in the days leading up to when they make the Thanksgiving packages ready for people to pick up. So we don't (and shouldn't) donate fresh food to them.
This is a group of musicians, singers, songwriters that get together in a variety of settings to jam acoustic, electric, write music, exchange ideas, learn from one another and just have fun. All levels welcome.
