"Kill Bill" Japanese style ! (apparently....)

We rarely go to Japanese restaurants in this group and it is high time
to correct that! Come join us in a fantastic, teeny-tiny find in the 9e -
Ito, a Japanese tapas-bar in an entirely non-descript spot (there is
nothing outside to remotely indicate that an amazing Japanese restaurant
lies behind the door so if you end up joining us, note that address
well!).  I suggest we take the 4-plate menu (for an incredible 25 euro),
though if your death row meal were going to be Japanese there is also a
10-plate tasting menu to try out (60e).

And the food? "Think fragrant miso and meringa soup, melt-in-the-mouth denkaku eggplant, saki-sautéd mushrooms, cod in teryaki and amaretto sauce and risotto with amazing Dashi vegetables. The sake and Japanese whiskey menu is extensive, the
atmosphere welcoming. Reserve now." When Vogue magazine starts
describing a simple cantine-like spot in such glowing terms, it's
definitely time to give it a shot. Le Fooding also raves about it and oddly
calls it "un concentré de Japon kill-billesque en plein SoPi (South
Pigalle)." Not sure I got the Kill Bill ambiance when visiting recently
but then again perhaps I was too wowed by the wonderful food to notice
anything else :-)

And a pleasant Parisian bonus: the staff are seriously nice.

Great place with some very intruiging pieces, the food was delicious - it's definitely worth another visit. great to catch-up with some familiar faces too.

What a great little gem. Loved the inventive plates, and of course the company was the best.
