Two years ago in December and new to Paris, I went (by myself) to The Night of the Hunter (La Nuit du Chasseur) event, sponsored by the food journal M.I.A.M. A fistful of euro got you a pocketful of cartridges (cartouche), with which to exchange for small plates of game dishes and Champagne to enjoy while oggling the taxidermy specimens and stylish hunter's fashion. And there I struck up a conversation with the Pseudo Grenouille, and learned about GFGFGWGT - the group having organized a Meetup to attend. By the time we closed the place down, I had made my first (and still best) friends in Paris.
Since M.I.A.M isn't organizing events any more (why??), the next best thing for the anniversary is a dinner with one of the featured chefs from that evening - Rodolphe Paquin of Le Repaire de Cartouche. While game is sure to be featured, there are other options to choose from.
If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast!
This is a group dedicated to 'quality' dining. We strive to find interesting and fun restaurants throughout Paris.
We invite our members to enjoy their meal with some friendly conversation, and pleasurable wine. We hope that each restaurant we find will broaden your Parisian horizons and be good enough that you'd like to go there again.
We have typically 4 dinners per month, with a maximum seating of 10 people to ensure that more intimate feeling. As a guideline, you can expect to pay usually E50-70, and sometimes up to E100 per meal, including drinks.
Please note that our waitlist does not operate on a first-in first-served basis. We aim to have each dinner with a good mix of established members and typically a couple of spots reserved for new(ish) members.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our future events,
Angela, Dee, Gosia, Nathalie, Andrew, James, and Nick.
