Tacky Christmas Sweater Party

It's time to schedule a holiday event that allows you to pull that lovely sweater that you only wear one time of the year from the back of the closet. We will be doing a low cost (under $12 Kris Kringle) and we will pull names a week or so before this event. Gag gifts are preferred to make this holiday gift sharing full of laughs.

Is anyone coming from the Zachary area? I don't know a single person and feel a little awkward but would really like to get out and meet new people...

    1 · December 20, 2013

    • Rob H.

First off, we have a lot of great people in the group, nothing to worry about. The first event is always the hardest but afterwards, you will be a regular. April is coming from out that way, I will tell her to come post under your comments

Hey Jude, hope you will come out and join us. We have several awesome members from Zachary already and look forward to meeting a new one. I'm excited to show off the sweater my daughter made me today. She said it is both "creepy and tacky". Should be interesting (I don't even know what it looks like yet)!! See you tonight, I hope!

Kris Kringle..I'm sure y'all have drawn names. I will bring something and gift it to myself...no problem. I work the night before so if I don't sleep during the day I won't be there. Scared of falling asleep on the way home. Looking forward to see y'all again.

White elephant (also known as Stealing Santa, the Chinese Gift Exchange, and Yankee Swap)
    How to Play the Game
    1. Everyone brings an inexpensive gift to the party.
    2. All gifts should be wrapped with no outside markings. You shouldn't know who the gifts are from.
    3. Everyone puts their gift in a pile.
    4. Everyone draws a number (1 to however many people are playing)
    5. Number 1 goes first, picks and unwraps a gift.
    6. Number 2 can pick another gift or "steal" an unwrapped gift. If an unwrapped gift is "stolen," the person it is stolen from can then "steal" or pick a wrapped gift.
    7. The next person's turn occurs after a wrapped gift is open.
    8. The game ends when all gifts are unwrapped.

Im going to be making chili for friday night and a dip. I have plates and bowls and napkins and such. I also picked up some 2 liter sodas. I was wondering if someone would mind bringing some of the following: Fritos for the chili, other chili fixins (i will have cheese). Ice, other snacks and desserts, your favorite party beverages and what ever else is yummy!!

    What is "Kris Kringle"?

    December 10, 2013

    • April

Elisa told me we were going to do "The White Elephant"

      1 · December 15, 2013

    • April

with the White Elephant...you draw numbers

      December 16, 2013

  • Margaret S.

Oops, please clarify for me- Kris Kringle is drawing names and getting a nice, new gift for agreed on amount of money for the person whose name you have. White Elephant is more of a joke where you take something you have received and not used and then regift it. Sometimes after one person chooses the next person can take the previous person's gift instead of a new one. I thought we were doing Kris Kringle where we got someone's name and bought a nice gift- that is what it says above.

    December 16, 2013

    • Elisa C.

It's kinda difficult to do Kris Kringle because not everyone may show and someone will be left without a gift so we are just going to do white elephant

      2 · December 16, 2013

  • Elisa C.

We are not going to draw names, just bribg a gift a d we sill do a white elephant steal kinda game?
