Good Reads & Good Eats-Ann Arbor: March Meetup

  • Join us on Tuesday March 5th, 2013 at 7pm to discuss Falling Leaves: The Memoir of an Unwanted Chinese Daughter by Adeline Yen Mah for the one year anniversary of this book club! We will meet at Asian Legend.
  • You are strongly encouraged  to join the waiting list. Almost everyone on the waiting list ends up getting to attend because the early responders often have something else come up and then change their RSVP to "no" - which automatically adds the first person on the waiting list to the attendees. There has only been one time when anyone at all was left on the waiting list by the time the meeting actually rolled around.
  • Please bring $1 to help cover the costs of using the Meetup website and cash to make paying the check easier for our large group.

I'm sorry. I haven't had an opportunity to crack this book yet. :-/

I have RSVPed yes and I am hoping to attend but I just learned that there might be a family problem that needs addressing. So I am a maybe but I hope to come!

If I have not finished the book and still show up, will I need to sit in the corner?

This book covers an incredible issue. As well, I am always up for the Asian Legend.

    Let me know.

Finishing the book is not a requirement! But, we will talk about the whole book. Hope to see you tomorrow.

How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accent is winning the What Should We Read Next poll so far. If that does end up being the winner, all iterations of the ebook version are selling for only $1.99. That's true for the Kindle, Nook, iBook, and Kobo versions.

Would love your suggestions for better table arrangements! There are very few restaurants that have large round tables (if you know of one, e-mail me right now!). Are you opposed to having smaller tables of 4-6 people? You'll still miss half of the opinions, but you might be able to hear the people at your table more clearly.

I'm not opposed to smaller tables of 4-6 people. I think it might be fun to kind of mix it up from meeting to meeting so we get a chance to sit with different people each time. That way we get to hear varied perspectives. Wonder how other book clubs manage this.

I've gone to a bunch of meetings, and I find that each time, I'm seated near different people and get a chance to hear their perspectives. It's always fun.

Tables of. 4-6 would probably work better maybe rotating somehow after the meal is finished.
