Good Reads and Good Eats Meetup - Group B

  • August 6, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We will be reading Shine Shine Shine by Lydia Netzer.

We meet at a local restaurant and discuss a book that we have chosen through a poll posted on this website.

There will be two meetings at two different restaurants on the same to discuss the book. Please RSVP for only ONE of the two meetups. If you learn you cannot attend after you've RSVPed "yes," please change your RSVP to "no" so that someone on the waiting list is allowed to attend.

Please don't hesitate to come for the first time or bring a friend - we are all new to this book club and we would love to see you! We will be the group of people with books in front of us!

E-mail Sam ( [masked] ) or Jen ( [masked] ) with any questions or ideas for the format of the book club. Please also e-mail book and/or restaurant recommendations.

Great book! Can't wait to discuss it! And I have a suggestion for next month- Transatlantic by Colum McCann.

While I'm only 50 pages in I have to say I'm lovin it so far. The author has quite the cutting intellect. For example: when she's describing the women of suburbia and how they are all dolled up so that "everyone would know they are still pretty". Lots of little nuances like that which to me seem like a share inside joke with the author. I also like how the book has few (if any, really) analogies. I HATE when books are nothing but something being "like" something else: "the moon was bright LIKE a giant bulb in the sky". This author jut lets things.....BE. Anyway, I get ahead of myself. More at the meetup!!! And I haven't forgotten I have your other book, Kristen! :)

We determined it would be Shine Shine Shine, correct? For some reason the Meetup app is nothing like the Meetup website and has proven to be harder to find the simplest information, ha!
