Enjoyed hearing some of the behind the scenes challenges developing a very public Google Glass experience that was integral to ART -- David Datuna's "Viewpoint of Billions"

Det is still doing Q&A, but because there is great wifi here in the CS Department, I can share my rough notes as a link to a 12-minute video clip. Enjoy!

    ###

Det was at Google I/O 2012. Bloomberg asked him to talk about a new Google tablet, but Glass was announced and he went on Bloomberg to talk about Glass right after Brin.

Got the Pioneer glass block at I/O. Was immediately inspired by the new experiences possible by Glass.

First thing they built was the full Battleship game playable in the Mirror API. Early Bluetooth integration with a car for HUD. Then integrated with a medical device from Cerora that can sense concussions. Saw benefit for caregivers in the ability to keep eye contact with patients.

Team of 27. HQ in PA. People in Carolina's and SF.

Got a call out of the blue from Kiwi about doing an art project with Datuna. There is a history of using technology in art to further the artists vision.

Hacked Netgear devices to make a wifi location device with 1-foot sensitivity. Bluetooth low power

Good presentation by Det in a good location. Guest wifi was iffy for those who did not have legitimate access to the GW network.

Forced networking at the beginning was childish and unprofessional even if well intentioned. Let's not do that again :)

@Joseph - I filled out the form a few days ago and will now have glass by the time of the event. If people are willing to venture out of DC to Arlington, VA (Clarendon specifically), my condo building has a club room that can be rented out.
