Carmen at the Filene Center, Wolf Trap (free tickets for Glass Explorers)

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is inviting Glass Explorers to a performance of Carmen, July 25 at the Filene Center. Wolf Trap will provide each Explorer with a free pair of lawn tickets, in exchange for using Glass to test new technology that deliver captions and supertitles to mobile devices. You can read more about the experiment here: http://nyti.ms/1kb4rzG.

Tickets are free for those who RSVP to bring their Glass to the performance, and the first five RSVPs will also receive a dinner package from Wolf Trap's onsite restaurant prior to the performance. Wolf Trap will also set up a BYO picnic area for Glass Explorers. Plus, you’ll get to see a fantastic performance of a popular opera and meet other Glassingtonians.

To reserve your free tickets RSVP with your full name. On the evening of the performance, a Glass meeting area will be set up outside the box office to distribute your tickets.  For information about attending performances at Wolf Trap, visit http://www.wolftrap.org/Plan_Your_Visit.

If you have any questions about this event, please do not hesitate to contact Wolf Trap at [masked].

So... Is it true that the first 5 that RSVP'd get a meal ticket or something like that? I thought I remembered reading that somewhere.

Thanks for writing. The Filene Center is our 7,000 seat amphitheatre with both lawn and in-house seating. In-house you have a roof overhead and an assigned seat. The lawn is the open air, sloped grassy area located beyond the covered pavilion in-house seats. Most patrons indeed use a blanket and bringing your own chair is permitted, but people with lawn chairs MUST sit at the back of the lawn area, behind the signs in place. Cushioned seats with adjustable backs are available from the gift shop on the plaza to the left after you enter the main gate for a $10 rental fee and a driver’s license as collateral, they may be used anywhere on the lawn.

    July 17, 2014

  • Ron D.

my +1 is also a Glass Explorer. Her unit is awaiting replacement though :0/

    July 15, 2014

    • Rachel W.

You'll get 2 tickets so you can take off your +1 in the RSVP.

      July 16, 2014

    • Schana23

      Thanks for the heads up.

      July 16, 2014

  • Rachel W.

Since we're each getting 2 tickets I took off my +1. So there's one more spot.

    1 · July 16, 2014

    • Kavi J.

I guess since there is 50 RSVP and 100 people limit we should all be doing it without the +1

      July 16, 2014

    • Kavi J.

      or just me

      July 16, 2014

  • Katarina

Is the a max on attendees?

    1 · July 16, 2014

    • Antonio Z.

There's a 100 people limit (50 RSVP) for free tickets. If we reach it, Wolf Trap has already offered to consider a few more.
