The United State Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” one of the nation’s premier musical organizations returns to the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing for an evening full of rousing, patriotic music followed by the spectacular Adventure Aquarium Waterfront Fireworks Celebration.

There are two meetup assembly locations!

Option1) Lets meet first at The Plough & Stars right near the intersection of 2nd & Chestnut (entrance on 2nd St side) for a drink around 6:30 and then head over to riverfront before 7:00.

Option2) David will also be at the fountain behind the sound booth at the Penns Landing amphitheater starting 6:30, if you would rather not meet at the P&S.

Both of us will have signs. Around 7, we will start looking for better seats. So if you are delayed beyond 7, check your meetup app on phone for updates to find us.

Additional volunteer hosts would be appreciated to keep the group together. More details on finding our group closer to event date.

Come early if you want parking nearby! Also close to subway stop on 2nd st.

Though the band is world class, I felt that the military presentation overshadowed the art that might have come through if they could only get out from behind the saccharin over-the-top Broadway (-ish)showbiz thing. It felt like we were being sold an ideology instead of experiencing music. Do they have to wear the uniforms? And the MC's voice brought to mind Peter Marshall from Hollywood Squares. The master sergeant _____, staff sergeant_____, etc. with the "up with people" vibe was at first humorous, but soon I was wondering if anyone in the audience might be willing to donate a sock :) But the fireworks were really wonderful! The orchestration and the type of fireworks chosen was really well done. I felt it to be emotionally moving, with more art in the fireworks than the band. These fireworks easily rivaled the 4th show at the PMA. If only this light show could have accompanied the Philadelphia Orchestra concert Tuesday night. That would have been..."YESSS!" Maybe next year :)

You could make that argument But this is the United States Army Band so I was not surprised to see ideology. It did not bother me..Patriotic music is expected for July4th.. I certainly did not want to see Jay Z an inexplicably popular gangsta rapper who writes extremely offensive garbage music and the Mayor had him host the 4th of July festivities last year at the Art Museum The fireworks were the best I have ever seen

The band and the orchestrated fireworks were spectacular. So much better than the fireworks on Tuesday. Almost at par with the July 4th fireworks at the museum. Videos @

You captured some very nice photos of the fireworks Girish. Well done! :) I agree with you about them almost being on par with the 4th show at the PMA. But as I thought about it, though the PMA was spectacular, I actually liked these better. The designers did a wonderful job in orchestrating the exploding light with the music, and chose some amazing kinds of fireworks I've never seen before. In an way, it was art. The craft of it was thought out and executed very well, but also, as in good music or any art, there was feeling....not an easy thing to express through a medium like fireworks. They certainly made the night. It was nice hanging out with you and Lidia after the show. See you next time.

I noticed a star close to the moon as I was leaving and I looked it up when I got home - actually it's Mars, kind of fitting after seeing fireworks.

If you plan to attend by yourself and not sit with the group, could you please take a moment to un-RSVP. I would like to get a true count of people to expect.
Please also note that the time and venue for meeting has been changed. We will meet at 6:30 at the Plough & Stars first.
Excellent weather predicted, so expect venue to be crowded.
