How and when did you become an Atheist - Freethinker - Humanist?

I was raised attending a liberal & affluent Lutheran church & even confirmed, but by late Junior High School to early High School I had read enough of existentialist philosophy and history to become an atheist and freethinker.

Are you a high school or college student? If not, what is your profession?

I majored in philosophy as an undergraduate at Hamilton College (with a history minor) – and I went on to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching history degree from Bennington College. I have taught high school for many years.

What is YOUR expertise or strength? That is, what are you passionate about (i.e. writer or speaker, computer tech etc.)?

learning, literature, poetry, creative writing, scholarly writing, traveling, mythology, etymology, singing, music, ethnomusicology, movies, video games, strategy games, chess, philology, science-fiction, drawing, theater, architecture, fine-dining/drinks, sailing, skiing, toys, Legos, swords, Kendo, fencing, martial arts, costumes, epic fantasy, historical reenactment, historical scholarship, ancient Greece, Roman Empire, Middle Ages, Feudal Japan, geography, philosophy, Existentialism, skepticism, physics, cosmology, neuroscience, classics, sociology, anthropology, samurai, psychology, teaching, Yoga, meditation, and atheism
