Dan, I meant to say in post just done that I noticed in the 2 pictures that I posted last night from the "Emily's List" people (1 came thru & 1 didn't because of some kind of technicality) -- in the one that showed her full-length from the back--that she was wearing some kind of comfortable athletic shoes.  "Smart lady" again!  She was preparing her feet to stand as long as she had too--she could Never have done that in high heels -- (that to me are another form of Chinese foot binding--designed to make women weak & vulnerable--& chiropractors & orthopaedists rich from the back trouble that inevitably comes from wearing them for years.  No. . . Wendy was Smart--she dressed in athletic shoes for the Race she was in--the Race against Time to Save Women's Lives -- & to win a critical battle in the Republican War on Women!

Thanks, Dan for giving me "another angle."  Yes; that makes sense to me.  I imagine that filibuster-ees don't always know in advance when or for how long they'll need to do that--but sometimes I guess they can anticipate that.  Yes; if she planned ahead; an adult diaper would definitely do the trick; although I think it would be hard to continue talking constantly, as she had to do to meet the filibuster requirement -- & have a satisfying "release."  But at least the diaper could keep her "eyeballs from floating" & head from spinning.  I guess the same challenge would be there for marathon dancers that were a sport that was the "craze" in the '40's I think & at other times.  But the rules could be different for each marathon.  I think they're allowed some degree of break for restroom or food.  What Wendy Davis did, however, was no "sport"--it was damn serious business to save the lives of women who might otherwise die -- as they did before abortion became legal in the U.S.-- because of being forced to seek shady doctors or purported doctors to help them & risk deadly infection from unsanitary surroundings & procedures.
But apparently the heartless, sexist Republicans were trying to "break her down" any way they could & so may have enforced the "letter of the law" regarding filibusters in the Texas State legislature--talk about CRUEL!  But she showed them that she could ENDURE -- & ENDURE she did.  I am SO Proud of her!

She's a smart lady and may have thought ahead enough to wear an adult diaper.  Sometimes you just "do what you have to do!"  --Dan

No need for me to add anything--this speaks for itself -- The War on Women is obviously still raging--by small-minded, sexist, Republican MEN!
P. S.  What I wonder is HOW could she Stand there so long without even needing to use the restroom.  Must have been her super "mind over matter" adrenaline/determination that kept her at her post, regardless of expected human needs -- because she knew Women's Lives were at stake & she did what would be normally humanly impossible!

Norma, I wanted to make sure you saw my colleague Denise's message from yesterday -- telling her story from inside the Texas State Capitol in Austin. She saw firsthand EMILY's List champion, and real live super hero Wendy Davis' 13 hour filibuster. This is EMILY's List in action. We find the Wendy Davis in your community -- and all across the country -- so she can keep fighting for women and reproductive rights. We could not do this without your generosity. The June 30 filing deadline is just four days away. Can we count on you to make a contribution right now so we can elect more women like Wendy Davis? Wendy Davis helped derail the GOP's effort to restrict abortions in Texas. But Governor Perry has announced a special legislative session so they can try it again. Together, let's stand with Wendy and the women of Texas. Melissa Ryan, Digital Director, EMILY's List
From: Denise Ferriozi To: Melissa Ryan Date: June 26, 2013 Subject: 13 hours Melissa,
I saw it with my own eyes. No sitting. No leaning. Not a single minute off her feet. For 13 hours.Wendy Davis, state senator in Texas and EMILY's List hero, put everything aside to stand strong against the War on Women. She's the reason that millions of Texas women can breathe a little easier today. But this war isn't over. Not even close. It could be only a matter of days before Texas takes up this same fight all over again. So right now, show women like Wendy all over the country that you've got their backs when they stand up in the War on Women -- in Congress and in the states. Contribute to EMILY's List immediately. Each and every day, EMILY's List is doing whatever we can to make sure that Wendy and every pro-choice Democratic woman out there can fight for us -- and we want to elect a whole lot more of them. I sat in the Texas Capitol with a sea of people in orange supporting Wendy. What couldn't be clearer is how many more women like her we need. We helped Wendy get elected and it's time to make sure we can do it again and again.Contribute right now and help us elect more and more pro-choice Democratic women to put themselves on the line for us. We squeaked out a win yesterday. But the attacks won't stop. Help us out right now. Thanks so much, Denise Feriozzi Political Director, EMILY's List
