Grails Lightning Talks

There's been some interest in a Lightning Talk format, so for the next meetup, let's try it out. Do you have an interesting plugin or tool you want to show off? How about a deep dive into your favorite Grails feature? Have a cool Grails project you're working on? Anything Grails/Groovy related is welcome!

Each talk should be between 5 - 10 minutes, and I imagine there will be a total time of an hour or so, depending on the number of speakers. We'll have a sign up sheet to determine order. Hope to see you all there!

The 'doors' will open around 6:30; we'll have some pizza and beer available. Our office is located near the Newton Center T stop on the Green line, and there's free parking in the Newton Center lots after 6.

Looks cool. It's "Grails" though, not "Groovy on Grails".

I'd like to show a cool project I've been working on - AltruHelp - a social media platform for philanthropy using Groovy on Grails.

    I could talk about:
    - using enums with legacy DB's. I have slides/code ready.
    - Putting a CodeNarc "limbo bar" into build loop to enforce code quality/style, if interest.

    +1 for phonegap

Hi Steve, I guess I'll go first.

Nathan and I can give a quick talk on Vsnap (a video messaging startup in Boston). Specifically:

    - A brief introduction to Vsnap and it does
    - The initial port to Grails
    - How Grails is helping with responsive design/phonegap
    - Upcoming scale issues
    - Plans for PaaS development

If anyone's intending on presenting on the 1st, it may be useful to start a conversation here about your planned topic. Feel free to share!
