Stay-at-home dads! Grandpas! Uncles! Work-at-home dads (full-time, part-time)! Has a new baby or a growing toddler in your nuclear or extended family given you--a father/uncle/grandfather/male mentor--the unique opportunity to do a great deal of your loved one's child care? Dads (and other male caregivers!): Are you perhaps fortunate enough to have a hardworking spouse/relative and parent of said child that happens to be working away from home most of the day while you give it your all to be the best daddy/caregiver ever to your infant or toddler (or relative)? Grandpas/Uncles: Are you in the position of looking after the child/ren of your son or daughter or sister or brother? Have no fear! There's a group for all of us, and we're it! Male caregivers: No longer must you imagine yourself being the only guy at a moms' group exchanging parenting or shopping tips over coffeecake. No longer, out of a desire to be a great dad, must you pine for an invitation to have lunch and discuss parenting techniques with that lovely, breastfeeding mother of twins that you met at the library--while you politely avert your gaze. Being a man while being one of an infant's or toddler's primary caregivers during your spouse's (etc.) workday DOES NOT MEAN that you are not a man! You know what it means?! YOU lack opportunities to meet and learn from similar fathers and grandfathers! G-FLAK is an exciting and much needed experiment that endeavors to fill a gap in our evolving communities. Through meetings of like-minded guys and their little ones, male caregivers of infants and toddlers will embrace stay-at-home fatherhood (etc.) and better engage the responsibilities and opportunities that come with the fruits of our seed!
